Why is T lumped in with the GLBQ

It does not make sense. It is an historical mistake that continues existing because of social inertia. Most transsexuals are MTF and MTFs are perceived as gay men by people that do not know them. The confusion will disappear on its own as transsexuals become more visible and the general public realizes that many MTFs are into women. It may take decades for the erronoeus “LGBT” acronym to die. Old habits die hard.

We can always just change the T to stand for something else, I guess.
All I can think of that GLBQ has in common with T is that they share a common enemy, which is Christians who say, "You were born with a dick, so go put it in a chick, within marriage of course" as opposed to putting it in a dude or getting it ripped off and replaced with a pussy.

That is all that T and LGB have in common: Rejection by people influenced by Abrahamic religions. Most transsexuals do not have genital surgery. Reasons vary widely. Sometimes it is the inconvenience and high cost. Some are fine with the genitals they have. Hormones and facial surgery make most of the difference. In my case (MTF) I do not want vaginoplasty.
